Disappearance Of 'Very Responsible' Police Explorer Deemed Suspicious

BREAKING: Alameda County Sheriff's deputies found the missing woman's abandoned car near I-880.

EAST BAY, CA – A volunteer with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office went missing Wednesday night in what deputies are calling a suspicious disappearance, a sheriff's spokesman said Thursday.

Karla Ramirez-Segoviano, 21, an Alameda County resident was last seen at about 10 p.m. when she dropped off a friend on 136th Avenue in San Leandro.

Ramirez-Segoviano is a Hispanic woman, 5 feet tall, 160 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair. She has an image of a dream catcher on her left arm, according to sheriff's officials.

Deputies located her vehicle at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning near Happyland Avenue and West A Street in Hayward, near Interstate Highway 880.

But she has no known friends in that area, sheriff's officials said.

"She is a police explorer for our department and is a very responsible young woman," the agency said. "Her disappearance has us all concerned, especially her family. It is completely abnormal to have not heard from Karla and we are treating her disappearance as suspicious."

"We're just perplexed," sheriff's spokesman Ray Kelly said.

Ramirez-Segoviano is a police explorer with the sheriff's office, Kelly said.

"This is very unlike her," he said.

Anyone that sees Ramirez-Segoviano is asked to call the sheriff's office at (510) 667-7721.
