Say 'I Do' Online: Contra Costa Offers Zoom Marriage Ceremonies
Staff with the Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder's office are ready to perform civil marriage ceremonies on Zoom or over FaceTime.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Residents of Contra Costa County can now get married over Zoom or on FaceTime. Amid coronavirus-related health orders that prevent gatherings of more than 10 people, the county clerk-recorder's office is now offering marriage licenses and civil marriage ceremonies online.
That way, all your guests may join in to view the ceremony.
"June is traditionally a month of many weddings," said Contra Costa County Clerk Deborah Cooper. "We are pleased to offer our constituents a creative new method to be married during this crisis."

Don't worry, the marriages are legit. California Gov. Gavin Newsom recently issued an executive order permitting the issuance of marriage licenses and the conduct of remote civil wedding ceremonies via teleconferencing technologies.
At least one of the parties getting married must be a Contra Costa County resident. The couple must appear together on the video and must be physically present within the state of California.

Other than a computer, tablet or cell phone with a microphone and camera and an internet connection, no additional software is required for the license or the ceremony.
The clerk-recorder's office does ask that the couple complete the marriage forms in advance of the ceremony. Marriage service appointments are currently available Tuesday through Thursday, during the month of June.
Couples who would like more information or to schedule an appointment are asked to email marriages@cr.cccounty.us or call 925-335-7900.
