Supe Federal Glover Waiting for Heart, Kidney Transplant
Glover has been serving as the supervisor of District 5, which includes Martinez.

A Contra Costa County supervisor will be working remotely while he waits inside a San Francisco hospital for a heart and kidney transplant, he said today.
Supervisor Federal Glover said in a statement that he checked himself into the University of California at San Francisco Medical Center last Thursday to “finish a battery of tests” to determine if he was eligible for the organ transplants.
Glover said he is eligible, so is waiting with his wife, Janis, and their two children, Tederal and Carissa, for a heart and kidney match, which he said could come at any time.

“I feel confident and strong and I anticipate that this amazing new technology will give me many more quality years with my family and of service to the residents of District 5, who matter a great deal to me,” Glover said.
While he is in the hospital, Glover said he is asking the county administrator, David Twa, and Glover’s staff to keep him updated on the day-to-day issues in the county. Glover said he will work remotely to “continue making sound decisions for the people I represent.”

“Life is precious. I ask for your prayers,” Glover said. “I am excited about a future of improved good health and our continuing to do good work for our community -- together.”
Glover has been serving since 2000 as the supervisor of District 5, which includes Martinez, Hercules, Pittsburg and portions of Pinole and Antioch, according to the county’s website. He was chairman of the board in 2004, 2008 and 2013, when he began his fourth term in office.
Individuals who want to send well wishes can send them to the supervisor’s office at 315 East Leland Road in Pittsburg.
