1.  "Mr. Horsefeathers" Live and In Person

Something special at the library tonight. There's a magic and juggling show with Steve Koehler, also known as "Mr. Horsefeathers."  Bring the whole family and enjoy a night of old time Vaudeville comedy!  Kids and adults alike will be in stitches as Mr. Horsefeathers delights the crowd with his magical merrymaking. 2.  Classical Mendelssohn

The Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra gives a special performance tonight of Felix Mendelssohn'  Symphony No. 1. Also on the program, Italian trumpet player Gabriele Cassone playing Hummel's concerto. Nicholas McGegan is conducting. Mendelssohn composed the symphony being heard tonight when he was just 15 years old.  The performance begins at 8 p.m. at The Center for Performing Arts, 555 Middlefield Road. 3.  The History of Opera

Mezzo-soprano Deborah Rosengaus will lead a discussion of the history of opera, including musical excerpts today at Little House. It's a rare opportunity to get a sense of how opera began and hear a little bit of opera as well. 4.  Youth Book Club

The Youth Book Club meets at Kepler's tonight to discuss "Pastworld" by Ian Beck. What if Victorian London were an amusement park where the inhabitants were actors hired to entertain visitors from the twenty-first century? Now imagine if Jack the Ripper was a planned attraction gone horribly wrong. Life inside the park, Pastworld, is all Eve has ever known. But then she meets a tourist in terrible trouble. Their adventure through this dark and dangerous theme park is sure to grab teens. It's tonight at 5:30 p.m. Bring $2.00 for pizza and drinks. Kepler's is at 1010 El Camino Real. 5.  City Council Meeting

The City Council holds its regularly scheduled meeting tonight at 7 p.m. On the agenda is a look at commission vacancies that need to be filled, including spots on the bicycle commission, the library commission and the planning commission. Public comment period is at the start and end of the meeting. The meeting is in the at 701 Laurel St.
