Today's riddle: How far can a fast dog run into the woods? 🤔 (Answer below!)
Weather forecast:
1. Citibank's ‘softened' branch proposal wins over Menlo Park commissioners (almanacnews.com) — Menlo Park’s Planning Commission has signed off on Citibank’s redesigned branch at 1215 El Camino Real, praising a softer look with warmer materials and more landscaping. Commissioners still pushed back on the bank’s request for oversized signage, which exceeds Menlo Park’s standard, but accepted the overall design after earlier rejecting a brighter, harsher proposal.
2. Residents near flood-prone creek finally have a reason to cheer as work begins (paloaltoonline.com) — Menlo Park residents along San Francisquito Creek are finally seeing concrete progress on long-promised flood protections, as work begins on replacing Palo Alto’s Newell Road bridge, a key first step in the Reach 2 project. The multi-city effort aims to widen channels, add floodwalls, and eventually replace the Pope-Chaucer bridge, with the goal of preventing 1998-level flooding in Menlo Park, Palo Alto, and East Palo Alto.
3. YouTube ‘First Amendment auditor' gets probation in Mountain View pepper spray case (almanacnews.com) — Menlo Park figures into a string of confrontations involving so‑called “First Amendment auditor” YouTubers, including a pepper‑spray incident outside Ace Hardware that led to felony charges for one filmer. Another auditor just received probation for a related Mountain View Costco pepper‑spray case, and both are now targets of civil lawsuits that also cite encounters outside Draeger’s Market in Menlo Park.
4. Assembly member Marc Berman honors Children's Health Council as 2026 Nonprofit of the Year (inmenlo.com) — Menlo Park’s state Assembly representative Marc Berman has named Palo Alto–based Children’s Health Council the 23rd Assembly District’s 2026 Nonprofit of the Year for its youth mental health and learning support work. The recognition highlights expanded access to care, free resources, and financial assistance for families across the Peninsula, including those in Menlo Park.
