Sacred Heart Preparatory Graduates 145 Seniors

Sacred Heart Preparatory graduated 145 students on May 25, 2012 during the 114th commencement ceremony on the Sacred Heart Schools campus in Atherton.

Richard A. Dioli, Director of Schools, Anne Holloway, Board of Trustees Chair, James Everitt, Sacred Heart Preparatory Principal, Brian Bell, Dean of Students, Ken Thompson, Academic Dean, and Karen Filice, Assistant Principal, Academic Life, presented the graduates with their diplomas.

Andrew Liotta was named Valedictorian; he is planning to attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the fall.  Daniel Clancy was voted Salutatorian by his classmates; he is enrolled at the University of Southern California.

Of this year’s graduating class, the National Merit Scholarship Program recognized 28 students, and honored four as finalists.  Six students were also named National Hispanic Scholars.

“I am extremely proud of this year’s matriculating class,” said James Everitt, principal at Sacred Heart Preparatory. “These young men and women are very talented and amazing individuals, and I am honored to have come to know them during their time at Sacred Heart.  They are ready to expand upon their knowledge and eager to explore the world to prepare them to become tomorrow’s leaders.”

The 145 graduates will matriculate to 63 different post-secondary institutions.  Sixty-eight graduates will attend colleges in California, and 74 students will attend institutions throughout the United States and Canada.  Of the graduating class, eight individuals will attend an Ivy League institution.  Post-secondary institutions that graduates will attend include Santa Clara University (14), University of Southern California (13), Stanford University (8), Chapman University (4), University of California, Berkeley (4), University of C Davis (4), Boston College (4), Princeton University (3), Yale University (2), and the U.S. Naval Academy.

In addition, for the sixth consecutive academic year, Sacred Heart Schools will send at least a dozen student athletes on to play sports in college.  Since 2007, 104 SHS graduates have continued their athletic careers at higher learning institutions.
