UPDATED: Another Person Hit by Caltrain

Caltrain officials say the individual is being transported to the hospital.

A northbound train struck a pedestrian on the track at the Palo Alto train station Tuesday, in the third major crash on the agency’s tracks in two days, according to Caltrain officials.

Northbound Caltrain #143, which left San Jose at 11:10 a.m., struck the pedestrian at 11:45 a.m. Train traffic held in the area for about an hour following the incident.

Caltrain officials say it was a woman who was hit, and that she was taken to the hospital.

This makes for the third Caltrain accident involving people in two days.

The first happened around 4:46 p.m. Monday in Menlo Park, when a woman’s car apparently became stuck on the tracks. Her vehicle was thrown an estimated 40 feet, and she died at the hospital, officials said.

Then, later that night, a man was struck and killed by an out-of-service Caltrain heading south in a tunnel in San Francisco, a spokeswoman said.

That collision occurred in Tunnel One shortly after 9 p.m., Caltrain spokeswoman Jayme Ackemann said.
