Authorities Search For Mountain Lion That Attacked Boy at Cupertino Winery

The 6-year-old was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Sunday afternoon.

Authorities are searching for a mountain lion in Cupertino that sent a 6-year-old boy to the hospital this afternoon, according to Santa Clara County Sgt. Curtis Stenderup.

The animal’s attack was reported around 1:15 p.m. on Montebello Road - a hiking trail near Pichetti Winery.

Stenderup said that officials with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife, as well as sheriff’s deputies have closed all hiking trails in the area and established a perimeter.
