Facebook Cleared Of Bomb Threat Following Search

Menlo Park police and fire with the San Mateo County bomb squad temporarily evacuated the Facebook campus Tuesday night.

MENLO PARK, CA -- A San Mateo County bomb squad cleared the Facebook headquarters following an anonymous tip to the New York Crime Stoppers unit that led Menlo Park police and fire to evacuate the building of the social media company's offices on 200 Jefferson Dr. at 5:22 p.m.

As a precaution, Facebook management requested buildings in the surrounding area be evacuated, while the authorities searched the premises. No suspicious package was found.

The Menlo Park Police Department secured a perimeter of the building and temporarily diverted traffic around the area. The county bomb unit was dispatched with explosive detection dogs that conducted a sweep of the building. The building is all clear and secure.
