Facebook Down For Second Time In A Week

Won't someone think of the selfies?

Menlo Park-based Facebook went down Monday for at least the second time in the last week but came back after nearly an hour of outage.

Users again got the following message: “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can.”

Problems started being reported around 12 p.m., which we know is prime time for everyone to post their lunch photos in their Facebook status. Some users could not access the site at all, while others reported seeing extremely slow service.

Instagram, which Facebook owns, was also inaccessible.

Service appeared to resume around 12:50 p.m.

On Thursday, Facebook went down for a few minutes before springing back into action.

The website downdetector.com, which tells users the status of a website at any give time, was also not responding, presumably due to the high volume of people trying to search for Facebook’s status.

Patch reached out to Facebook after the outage to see what happened. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear back.
