UPDATED: Thousands of Nails Spilled on Dumbarton Bridge in Crash

Officials say that multiple lanes of the bridge in Menlo Park are now back open.

A five-car crash left thousands of nails in the eastbound lanes of the Dumbarton Bridge in Menlo Park Monday morning, Menlo Park Fire Protection District Chief Harold Schapelhouman said.

The crash was reported shortly before 7:30 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of the bridge, according to the California Highway Patrol.

One person suffered minor injuries in the crash, which spilled several thousand nails onto the roadway, Schapelhouman said.

Two lanes of the bridge were closed while they cleaned up the crash, including the spilled nails. The bridge fully reopened by about 9:30
