Lief Sorbye and Jon Berger began performing together in 1993 when Jon first joined Lief's Celtic rock band of—now worldwide renown—Tempest.
When performing in a more intimate setting, they pare down to a duo and combine the rich tones of acoustic instrumentation with a good dollop of the excitement and energy that is the trademark of a Tempest show.
Caliban presents a delightful, eclectic blend of music on fiddle, mandola, mando-guitar, and accordion, filling a set with spirited dance-tunes and spellbinding ballads. Their repertoire consists of Celtic and British Isles material, as well as songs from Sorbye's native Norway. Featuring tight vocal harmonies and great instrumental skills, their show has a lively feel and a contagious sense of humor.
