  • Ending homelessness
  • Realizing 80 percent of children reading at grade level by fourth grade
  • Insuring foster youth finish high school and complete the equivalent of two years community college

While ambitious, Maltbie will tell the Board Tuesday that these goals are quite achievable due to the collaborative spirit and work ethic that has made prior initiatives, such as health care for every county child, a reality.

In advance of Tuesday’s board meeting, Maltbie asked department heads for their commitment and alerted community partners and leaders that their support is also key to developing the path to success. The FY 2017-2017 budget can lay the foundation for this work, he said.
