"Nature's Bounty,'' ongoing. This exhibit gallery explores how the oldest people of the Peninsula used the natural resources of the area and how these resources were used to help build San Francisco after the discovery of gold in 1849.
The museum is located in the Old Courthouse with its historic dome. Its collections include horse-drawn carriages, models, railroads from Caltrain and the Ocean Shore Railroad, relics from San Mateo's past, and lithographic art dating from 1875.
