Filing for Social Security: Flexibility & Choices for Your Retirement Income

Menlo Park Library to Host Free Financial Planning Presentation March 7

The Menlo Park Library presents a presentation on maximizing Social Security retirement income on Saturday, March 7, at 11:00 a.m. at the Menlo Park City Council Chambers, located at 701 Laurel Street. The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Friends of the Menlo Park Library.

Social Security is the country’s single largest Federal program and the sole means of support for many retirees. The government program offers a high level of flexibility to optimize one’s retirement income needs. During the Saturday presentation, Financial Advisor Delbar Jahanian of Waddell & Reed will discuss the different filing options available to married couples, divorced individuals, and widows. The alternative filing options available can often provide monthly lifetime social security payments higher than the standard filing options that are typically selected. Supplemental material will be provided to each attendee following the presentation.

Delbar Jahanian works for Waddell & Reed Financial Advisors of Campbell, where she focuses on helping clients build their optimal financial plans for goals that may include a comfortable retirement, or paying for a child’s education or leaving a legacy. She has a Chartered Mutual Fund Consultant designation and has been working with Waddell & Reed since 2006.

No registration is necessary to attend this presentation, which is free and open to the public. Free wheelchair accessible van service is available for Menlo Park area seniors and people with disabilities. To reserve a ride, phone 330-2512, or email weaver@plsinfo.org.
