Fire Crews Respond to Natural Gas Leak

Fire crews say the incident is "minor."

By Bay City News Service:

Fire crews are responding to a small natural gas leak in a residential part of Menlo Park Monday afternoon, fire officials said.

Menlo Park Fire Protection District Division Chief Frank Fraone said construction crews were in the process of fixing a sewer line sometime after noon at 227 Chester St. when a tractor clipped the natural gas line.

Fraone said crews are waiting for PG&E to shut off the gas and only one or two fire engines will remain on site.

“It’s a minor incident,” Fraone said, adding that he didn’t anticipate any evacuations will be needed as a result of the incident. “They’re keeping everyone indoors,” he said.
