Get Ready for a Rare Friday the 13th Full Moon

That’s when, for the first time in more than 13 years, there will be a full moon on Friday the 13th.

According to the U.S. Naval Observatory, the full moon will occur this Friday, the 13th, at 12:11 am Eastern Daylight Time.

“June’s Full Moon is variously known as the Mead Moon, Rose Moon, Strawberry Moon, or Honey Moon.  All of these names reflect Luna’s appearance at her low southerly declination, since the haze and humidity of the midsummer air tends to give a warmer tint to her otherwise silvery face,” according to the U.S. Naval Observatory.

USA Today reports a Friday the 13th full moon hasn’t happened in June since 1919.

 It’s the first time it has happened in any month since Oct. 13, 2000 and the last time it will happen until Oct. 13, 2019, USA Today reports.
