Get Us Moving San Mateo County Seeks Additional Public Input

From SAM Trans: The next phase of public outreach is underway for Get Us Moving San Mateo County (GUM) with several scheduled town hall meetings throughout the month of May, as well as an updated website where people can take the new Budget Challenge.

GUM will be offering several opportunities for the public to share their thoughts about strategies to address the County’s critical transportation needs. GUM is a collaborative effort between the San Mateo County Transit District, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, partner agencies and organizations.

There is a new online Budget Challenge where the public gets to create their own budget and spend $2.4 billion in potential transportation funding based on their own priorities. Visit www.getusmovingsmc.com to take the fun and quick Budget Challenge. Public input is a critical component of this process and the deadline to submit feedback is Thursday, May 31.

GUM is designed to inform the Transit District Board of Directors and the County Board of Supervisors about San Mateo County residents’ transportation priorities.

The Transit District and the County will use this feedback to develop a plan to fund transportation needs that would be included in a potential ballot measure creating new transportation revenues.

Participants will hear a short presentation on the Get Us Moving SMC outreach effort. Attendees will then participate in an interactive budget crafting exercise where they will have the opportunity to give direct feedback on where they think transportation and transit funding should go.
