Hans Christian Andersen to Visit Menlo Park

Master Storyteller Randel McGee to portray world-renowned Danish author at free event for adults on August 13

The Menlo Park Library is inviting adults to enjoy a visit with Hans Christian Andersen on August 13, as storyteller Randel McGee portrays the legendary author.

Randel McGee is an internationally-recognized storyteller, teacher and artist. He portrays Hans Christian Andersen in period costume as he shares some of Andersen’s most-loved stories. McGee’s performances of the tales reflect the subtle wit and poignancy that Andersen wanted to convey to his listeners. McGee is also an accomplished paper-cut artist, and produces fascinating pictures and designs as he tells some of the stories, just as Andersen himself did.

Mr. McGee has performed as Andersen across the U.S., and internationally. He has been a featured performer at schools and colleges, libraries, conventions, storytelling festivals, museums and events. He has authored 16 craft books for children, and has served as an artist-in-residence, consultant, and teacher for the California Arts Council, the California State Library, California State University - Fresno, and the Puppeteers of America. He is a member of the National Storytelling Network.
