My name is Clint Blakely and I’m a product of Mountain View High School's performing arts departments, where I fell in love with music singing with the Madrigals. I hold a BA in Jazz Voice from USC's Thornton School of Music. I've played &amp; sung music around the world – Los Angeles bars &amp; clubs, Amsterdam concert halls, Rio de Janeiro churches... I love teaching lessons over Zoom! For the past 5 years, I’ve taught students all over the world whose ages range from 4 years old to 60+. My students have a wide variety of skill levels, from complete beginners to 10+ years of prior study. In my lessons, I combine technical instruction and creative exercises within a fun, encouraging atmosphere. Karl is plant passionate, travel guru, with an emphasis on garden touring. He is a popular speaker all over the United States for Garden clubs, horticulture groups, Garden and Flower shows. He is also known for his beautiful garden and travel posts on Facebook and TikTok.

Karl is originally from Mississippi, a graduate of Mississippi State, interned at Longwood and Disneyworld. In 1996 he was an apprentice gardener at Filoli.
He is a Senior Gardener at Longwood, in charge of the Main and East Conservatory. Karl's responsibilities include display design, plant selection, installation, and maintenance. He runs a team of 20 including students and volunteers.
