UPDATE: Man Drowns in San Mateo County Beach

A San Jose man drowned at a beach in unincorporated San Mateo County early Saturday morning.

San Mateo County, CA -- A 34-year-old man who drowned at the a San Mateo County beach early Saturday morning has been identified as Francisco Zarco-Lopez, according to the county coroner's office.

Zarco-Lopez, a San Jose resident, had been at Tunitas Creek Beach south of Half Moon Bay around 3 a.m. with family and friends when a wave knocked him down and pulled him into the ocean as he was wading in a shallow area, sheriff's officials said.

Family and friends searched the coastline for Zarco-Lopez before finding his unconscious body, initiating CPR and eventually calling 911, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies responded the scene and also attempted CPR, but were unsuccessful. Zarco-Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene.

No foul play is suspected and his friends and family are cooperating with the investigation, sheriff's officials said.
