Man ID'd in Deadly Menlo Park Crash
BREAKING: The man crashed into a drainage ditch along a local highway over the weekend.

MENLO PARK, CA ā A man who died after crashing on a Peninsula expressway over the weekend has been publicly identified by the coroner's office.
According to San Mateo County coroner's officials, Newark resident Jonathan Ferguson died at the scene early Saturday morning. He was 26.
Menlo Park police and fire officials both responded to the wreck adjacent to the Facebook campus, on the eastbound side of the Bayfront Expressway ā or SR 84 ā at 3:15 a.m.

"Upon arrival officers found a single vehicle had run off the roadway into a drainage ditch and collided into a cement drainage outlet," police said following the crash. "Police and paramedics administered lifesaving efforts to no avail."
"Our condolences and sympathies go out to the victims family and friends of this tragic incident. We don't know exactly why this occurred but this isn't the first time we have responded to a significant vehicle accident involving this unprotected drainage ditch" Fire Chief Harold Schapelhouman said. "We'll be talking to Caltrans about that.

"Over the years we've advocated for various roadway safety improvements on this stretch of roadway" he said.
