Menlo 7, Mercy-Burlingame 0

With a five-goal first half, the Menlo girls' soccer team rolled to a 7-0 victory over Mercy-Burlingame on a wet field at Skyline College on Thursday.

The Knights hold a 3-1-0 record in West Bay Athletic League play and are 5-4-2 overall. Mercy drops to 0-4-0 and 2-7-0. Junior Hannah Rubin scored Menlo's first goal at 12 minutes in on a corner kick from sophomore Chandler Wickers.

At 17 minutes, Wickers scored from 15 yards out off a through ball from sophomore Jaye Boissiere. Then, Boissiere scored from 15 yards out unassisted before Rubin and Wickers combined on another corner kick at 30 minutes. Wickers added her second goal off a Kelly McConnell assist. The second-half goals were both scored by junior Julia Dressel. The first came off a Boissiere assist and the second on a penalty kick.

Menlo plays its next match at Sacred Heart at 10 a.m. Saturday.
