Menlo Takes St. Francis to Five Games
Facing defending CCS Div. II champs, the girls volleyball team fought hard.

Facing the defending CCS Div. II champions, the Menlo School volleyball team took St. Francis to a fifth game before falling 3-2 in Mountain View on Thursday.
St. Francis edged Menlo 25-20, 21-25, 25-14, 19-25, 15-12 in the non-league match.
“We fought hard and made great efforts tonight.,” Knights coach Atlee Hubbard said. “We still need to smooth out a few things in our game, but overall a really nice match from us this early in the season.”

Senior Emma Thygesen had a team-high 18 kills and collected 13 digs, three blocks while posting a .288 hitting percentage. The Knights, coming off a 3-0 win over Aragon the night before, got 11 kills and 16 digs from junior Maddie Huber, who finished with a .250 hitting percentage.
Junior libero Melissa Cairo added 18 digs to Menlo’s team total of 70 digs. Blocking was a big plus as junior Morgan Dressel contributed eight of the team’s 15 blocks.
