New Speaker Series begins at Folger Stables
First lecture features three local fine-art painters to discuss how the Peninsula inspires their work.

The three artists—Jim Caldwell, Kit Colman, and Sheila Finch—will talk about the importance of the natural environment in their paintings and will also describe their artistic process. In addition, each artist will showcase several pieces of their artwork in individual pop-up galleries around the Folger Stable grounds. All the paintings will be for sale, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Friends of Huddart and Wunderlich Parks.
For the past 23 years, FOWHP has been devoted to working with San Mateo County Parks Department to support park improvements and to educate school children about local history and the local environment. FOHWP’s launch of the speaker series represents a deeper involvement with the community by expanding its educational offerings to include adults. The speaker series will focus on topics of local meaning and importance presented by local individuals who are accomplished in their fields.
Upcoming talks: Fall 2015, Education Coordinator Carol Preston of NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) Gulf of The Farallones Marine Sanctuary will present “Protecting Ecological Treasures: Expansion of Northern California Marine Sanctuaries.”

About the Friends of Huddart and Wunderlich Parks
The Friends of Huddart and Wunderlich Parks organization was founded in 1992 and became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2002. The Friends is dedicated to preserving the local environment and historic legacies of these two exceptional parks in Woodside, California. While the early programs of the Friends supported various aspects of park management, its activities have expanded over the years, and it now provides children’s educational hikes in Huddart Park, and at the Folger Estate Stable historic site in Wunderlich promotes exhibits, provides guided tours, and assists with school programs.
