New Mandatory Water Restrictions for Menlo Park Municipal Water District

MPMWD has been mandated by the State to activate the Mandatory Stage of the Urban Water Management Plan.

The Menlo Park Municipal Water District restricts the following activities:

  • Must not apply potable water to any driveway or sidewalk.
  • Must not use potable water on outdoor landscapes in a manner that causes runoff.
  • Must wash motor vehicles with a hose fitted with an automatic shutoff nozzle.
  • Cannot use potable water in fountains or decorative water features, unless the water is recirculated
  • Must repair defective or broken plumbing and irrigation systems within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Restaurants must serve water only upon request.

Although the MPMWD may impose fines to repeat violators of the restrictions, our goal is to educate MPMWD customers on water use, water conservation techniques, and available rebates and freebies. Visit http://www.menlopark.org/356/Water-Conservation for more information.
