Photos: Special Olympics Torch Run Through Menlo Park

Law enforcement officers carry torch through downtown this morning.

The Special Olympics Torch was carried through the streets of Menlo Park Friday morning by law enforcement employees.

The run began at the Stanford Park Hotel and continued north on El Camino Real, making a left turn onto Menlo Ave, continuing to University Ave., then looping back toward El Camino on Santa Cruz Avenue.  The run continued north on El CaminoReap to Atherton, Redwood City and other Peninsula cities, ending at the border of San Mateo and San Francisco counties, where the torch was passed to the San Francisco Police Department.

The eventual destination of the torch is the opening ceremonies of the Northern California Special Olympics on June 24 at Aggie Stadium on the University of California at Davis campus.
