Silicon Valley School Briefly Placed On Lockdown While Police Chase Fleeing Suspect
A Peninsula high school was placed on lockdown Monday afternoon as authorities worked to find a suspect who allegedly fled from police.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA ā A Cupertino high school was placed on lockdown this week as Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety officers worked nearby to detain a man who they say fled the scene of an argument on their arrival, a captain said Monday afternoon.
Officers say they were dispatched Monday to a 7-Eleven near the corner of Homestead Road and Noranda Drive on a report of an argument. When they arrived, a male suspect jumped a fence and fled into a neighboring apartment complex and officers gave chase.
A firearm was later located at the scene of the argument, according to Capt. Shawn Ahearn.

Homestead High School, located at 21370 Homestead Road in Cupertino, was placed on lockdown as a precaution, according to Ahearn.
"The school was put on a lockdown just because we did find a weapon," Ahearn said. "We wanted to make sure everyone's safe."
