Stroke Prevention Seminar February 13
Menlo Park Library hosting free event from Pacific Stroke Association, to be held at 11 a.m. at the City Council Chambers
The Menlo Park Library is hosting an informational seminar about stroke causes, prevention, and appropriate response, in a free presentation by the Pacific Stroke Association to take place Saturday, February 13 at 11 a.m. in the Menlo Park City Council Chambers.
More than 795,000 Americans suffer a stroke each year. While stroke has dropped to the number-five cause of death in the United States, it remains the number-one cause of adult disabilities. An educator from the Pacific Stroke Association will present an informative overview about stroke: what it is, risks, prevention, and how to respond if someone you know is experiencing symptoms. This session is for individuals of all ages. Anyone can experience a stroke and we all can help others if we know the signs.
Pacific Stroke Association, formerly Peninsula Stroke Association, is a local, community-based nonprofit organization serving Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. It was founded in 1999 by a group of community members concerned with the lack of awareness of stroke symptoms among the general public and the medical community. Since its inception, the organization’s mission has been to reduce the incidence of stroke through education and to help alleviate stroke’s devastating aftermath through support programs for stroke survivors and family caregivers.
