UPDATED: Suspect Shoots at Police Near Facebook HQ in Menlo Park, Search Underway

Two suspects have been detained, and a third is sought.

Menlo Park police confirm to Patch they were on scene of a shooting near the Facebook headquarters Wednesday night.

According to the agency, Fremont and Newark police were in pursuit of a suspect which led them to the area just after 6 p.m. Shots were fired in the area of Hamilton Court, about a half mile away from Facebook.

“Newark and Fremont Police officers were pursuing a suspect vehicle over the Dumbarton Bridge for a crime that took place in their jurisdiction,” Menlo Park PD said in a news alert. “The suspect vehicle went westbound turning in the Business Park in the 1300 block of Willow Rd.”

Police said that’s when shots were fired at the pursuing officers. They were not injured.

Several agencies responded to the scene to assist in the investigation, police said.

As of 6:20 p.m., Patch was told police were setting up a perimeter in the area. A live stream video from ABC7 showed police with K9 units scouring the area.

By 7 p.m., two suspects had been detained, according to Menlo Park PD.

“One suspect is outstanding,” police said. “There are multiple officers out in the area with a perimeter set up looking for the third suspect.”

As of 10 p.m., the third suspect remained at large.

“Two firearms were recovered; one was located by the suspect vehicle in front of 1374 Willow Rd and the other was located in the direction where the suspects ran,” police said Wednesday night. “There will be updates as more information is available.”
