Teen ID'd in Deadly Skyline Boulevard Crash
CHP officials say three teens were in a BMW when the driver lost control, sending them down an embankment and into a tree.

San Mateo County coroner's officials have identified a teenage boy who died when he was involved in a crash off of Skyline Boulevard last week.
Eighteen-year-old Phillip Restivo of San Martin died while en route to the hospital following the Thursday afternoon crash in the Santa Cruz Mountains near the San Mateo/Santa Clara county line, according to coroner's officials and the CHP.
The crash is believed to have happened when the driver of a gray BMW-- in which Restivo was the front passenger-- lost control of the vehicle and drifted across the double yellow lines and off the east side of the roadway, according to CHP Officer Art Montiel.

"As the BMW went down [an] embankment, it collided with a tree approximately 15 feet from the roadway and continued down the embankment where it came to rest on its wheels approximately 40 feet from the roadway," Montiel said in a news release.
A rear passenger, a 19-year-old man, suffered major injuries and was taken to Stanford Hospital. The driver, a 17-year-old San Jose resident, suffered only minor injuries, Montiel said.

It does not appear either drugs or alcohol caused the crash. The most likely cause was speed, but the investigation is not complete and investigators are evaluating all possible causes, Montiel said.
Officials initially reported Restivo's age as 19, but coroner's officials now say he was 18.
