Roads To Close For The Dipsea Race In Marin County

MILL VALLEY, CA — Downtown Mill Valley will face parking restrictions and road closures Sunday morning as the 115th Dipsea Race sends roughly 1,500 runners through the city on their way from Mill Valley to Stinson Beach.

Parking restrictions along Lovell Avenue, Throckmorton Avenue, Miller Avenue, and the Depot parking lot take effect at 5 a.m. Road closures follow at 7 a.m. and remain in place until 11 a.m.

Closed streets include Throckmorton Avenue from East Blithedale Avenue to Cascade Drive, Bernard Street, Madrona Street, Olive Street, and Old Mill Street. Southbound Cascade Drive will be closed at Molino Avenue, and northbound Molino Avenue will be closed at Cascade Drive.

Drivers should expect detours. Lovell Avenue will temporarily become a two-way street. Outbound traffic from the Cascade, Lovell, and Throckmorton neighborhoods will be routed around Old Mill Elementary onto Lovell Avenue. Inbound traffic on East Blithedale Avenue will be directed to Gardner Street and Corte Madera Avenue to Lovell Avenue. Drivers coming in on Miller Avenue should take Sunnyside Avenue to East Blithedale and follow the same route.

First run in 1905, the Dipsea covers a 7.4-mile course of steep trails and staircases over Mount Tamalpais. Runners enter from around the world.
