The piece also spotlights several other Marin and North Bay authors, from children's stories and ghostly Northern California tales to spiritual memoir and Dracula-inspired gothic adventure.
   

• The White Chip Tickets (bohemian.com) — Mill Valley theatergoers can enter to win tickets to "The White Chip" at Marin Theatre in town, running August 27 through September 20 with flexible September dates for winners. The darkly funny "recovery comedy" follows Steven McAlister's struggle with addiction and sobriety, in a production led by Artistic Director Lance Gardner and recommended for ages 13 and up.
   

• 'Wild Horse Nine' to Open 49th Mill Valley Film Festival, Sam Rockwell to Receive Tribute (awardswatch.com) — Mill Valley residents can look ahead to this fall's 49th Mill Valley Film Festival, where Martin McDonagh's new film "Wild Horse Nine" will open the October 1–11 event and Sam Rockwell will receive a tribute. The festival is also debuting a New Directors section highlighting bold first and second features from emerging filmmakers around the world.
