LARKSPUR, CA — Central Marin Police Authority will hold a DUI checkpoint on Sept. 11 in Larkspur, officials said.
The checkpoint will run from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. at an undisclosed location, police said.
"Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk," said Sgt. Jeff Peterson. "Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improve traffic safety."
Police reminded drivers that impairment is not limited to alcohol. Some prescription and over-the-counter medications can affect a person's ability to drive, officials said.
Although medicinal and recreational cannabis are legal in California, driving under the influence of marijuana remains illegal.
