STRAWBERRY, CA — Two retired San Francisco police officers were among three people found dead inside a Strawberry home Sunday evening after a report of gunfire, according to police and a report by the San Francisco Chronicle.
Ann Mannix, a retired San Francisco police deputy chief, and her husband, Kevin Mannix, a retired police sergeant, were identified as two of the deceased by law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation, the Chronicle reported.
The identity of the third person had not been publicly disclosed in the reports available Sunday night.
The Marin County Sheriff's Office said dispatchers received a 911 call at 5:03 p.m. on Sunday night reporting shots fired inside a residence on Strawberry Circle in Strawberry, an unincorporated community near Mill Valley.
Deputies arrived within minutes and contacted the person who reported the incident, who had safely exited the residence. After securing a perimeter, deputies entered the home and discovered three deceased individuals, according to the sheriff's office.
Detectives said on Sunday night they were processing the scene and the investigation remained in its early stages.
"There is no known threat to the community," the sheriff's office stated.

The department had not released additional details about the circumstances in its statement.
Mannix retired as a deputy chief in 2021. She had a 27-year career with the San Francisco Police Department and was involved with the San Francisco Police Activities League, which connects young people with police officers through sports and mentorship.
"I value the ability to be involved and shape a young person's life, to be a positive role model in their formative years," Mannix said in a profile published by the Police Activities League.
Kevin Mannix retired in June 2018 after 27 years with the San Francisco Police Department. In a farewell message published by Taraval Station that year, he wrote that he looked forward to spending more time with family and friends, while saying he would miss the colleagues and community members he had worked with.
The investigation is ongoing.
