1 Dead In Milpitas Crash

The crash was reported at about 8:50 p.m. on Highway 680 just south of Jacklin Road.

MILPITAS, CA --A 40-year-old man died in a crash on northbound Interstate Highway 680 in Milpitas on Tuesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash was reported around 8:45 p.m. on northbound Highway 680 north of Calaveras Boulevard.

Officers arrived and found a Toyota Corolla on the right shoulder with the right side of the vehicle against a tree, CHP officials said.

Investigators determined that the driver made an unsafe move and lost control of the vehicle, which veered across the northbound highway lanes and struck the tree.

The driver, the lone occupant in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.
