2012 MUSD Crab Feed Fast Approaching!

If you have any hopes of attending this year's 8th Annual MUSD Crab Feed - scheduled for Friday, Feb. 3 - well, organizers say, you'd better act soon! Tickets are already selling fast.

This year's event will take place at the .

The MUSD Crab Feed is an annual event that benefits the students of the Milpitas school district. Funds raised at the crab feed are distributed to various Parent-Teach Associations (PTAs), the Milpitas Community Educational Endowment (MCEE), and the to help provide support for various school programs, such as music and the arts.

This year's crab feed is being put on by MCEE, with the local school district volunteering its staff and services to assist wherever needed.

Robert Jung, CEO of MCEE and president of its Board, and president of the PTA, advises everyone to purchase their tickets quckly.

"This year our tickets are selling faster than last year," he said.

Jung stated that over 1,000 pounds of Dungeness Crab have been ordered for this year's Feed. There will also be pasta salad, cole slaw and garlic bread to complete the meal.

"We hope to have 350 people attending this year, about 15 percent more than last year," Jung added.

The doors will open at 5 p.m. for hors d'oeuvres and a no-host bar, which attendees will get to enjoy to the sweet sounds of the Milpitas High School Jazz Band, scheduled to perform during the appetizer hour.

Then, dinner will be served from 6:30-8 p.m. However, attendees will definitely want to save some room for dessert, because right after dinner, the dessert auction begins.

Beautifully decorated cakes, pies, cookies and assorted pastries will be auctioned off to the highest bidders.

After the dessert auction, organizers say, there will be an added treat - but don't worry, this treat is fat-free. There will be a 30-minute live performance by a number of student musical groups, including the Randall Elementary School Glee club, the MHS Choir, and the MHS Glee club.

But, the night's not over yet! The silent auction during the annual Crab Feed is always a big hit, and this year it will include art work from pupils of Milpitas High School.

"This year we will showcase some of our student's talents, such as having one-of-a-kind pieces from the high school ceramics and photography classes in our silent auction," said Jung.

The Crab Feed will close with the popular Treasure Chest.

Attendees can purchase keys in hopes of getting the one that opens the Treasure Chest. Only one key will open the chest.

The holder of that key will win the contents of the chest, which usually includes gift certificates to local businesses, from spas to restaurants. 

Unfortunately, no child care or child entertainment will be provided during this year's event.

This year's Crab Feed takes place from 5-10 p.m. on Feb. 3 at the India Community Center, 525 Los Coches St. Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased at school sites or online at www.crabfeed4musd.com.
