Officers found the victim with fatal injuries at the scene and later located a damaged blue SUV nearby that matched witness descriptions. The investigation is still ongoing.
2. Indoor pickleball facility opens in Milpitas (mercurynews.com) — Milpitas residents now have a new indoor pickleball hub at The Picklr in McCarthy Ranch Plaza, offering 16 courts, leagues, and training at 128 Ranch Drive. The city also strengthened its leadership team by hiring Scott Transou as assistant city manager and Hamed Zadran as building official, moves that will shape services and development across Milpitas.
3. Two Malayali women killed in California, friend detained (americanbazaaronline.com) — Two women originally from Kerala, India were killed in Milpitas, one in an alleged hit-and-run at the Mill Creek Apartments on Dixon Landing Road and another later found dead in an apartment. Milpitas police have arrested a 32‑year‑old local SUV driver and are investigating links between the two deaths and a detained acquaintance while families work on repatriating remains.

South Bay father among those missing in Nepal-Tibet border floods (mercurynews.com) — A 48-year-old Milpitas father of two is among the hundreds missing after catastrophic floods near the Nepal-Tibet border, and his family here has not heard from him since the disaster. Relatives and local friends are urgently seeking any information from fellow travelers. The longtime American citizen and tech professional was on a spiritual pilgrimage when the avalanche-triggered flooding struck.
