MILPITAS, CA — A 32-year-old woman has been charged with murder after prosecutors said Tuesday she intentionally struck and killed her friend with an SUV in a Milpitas apartment complex parking lot.
Anjana Hari, 35, was found with significant head injuries shortly after noon on Aug. 28 in the parking lot of the Mill Creek Apartments on Dixon Landing Road and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's office.
Police identified the driver as Anila Baby, 32, who also lived at the complex. Witnesses told police that Baby stopped her Toyota Highlander near Hari, who smiled and acknowledged her before walking in front of the SUV.
Witnesses claimed Baby then accelerated, striking Hari and three parked cars before leaving the complex, the district attorney's office said.
Baby was found less than a mile away with visible injuries, prosecutors said.
