• Woman Accused Of Running Over Friend On Purpose In Milpitas Fatal Hit-And-Run: DA (patch.com) — Milpitas residents are reeling after prosecutors charged a 32-year-old neighbor with murder, alleging she intentionally ran over her friend in the Mill Creek Apartments parking lot on Aug. 28. Authorities say the victim, 35-year-old Anjana Hari, died at the scene, and a community GoFundMe has been launched to help her husband with funeral costs and living expenses.
   

• California air district orders Newby Island operators to fix air quality, cut odors (thecooldown.com) — Milpitas residents living near the Newby Island landfill may finally see tougher oversight of the foul odors drifting into their neighborhoods, as Bay Area air regulators order the site to cut pollution and install continuous monitoring. The mandate targets hydrogen sulfide emissions, adds perimeter air monitors and drone inspections, and threatens further enforcement if operators fail to comply.
   

• Volleyball Recap: American Routs Arroyo for Its Widest Victory Margin Yet (maxpreps.com) — Milpitas volleyball fans have a home matchup coming as American High, fresh off a dominant 3–0 sweep of Arroyo, visits Friday at 5:45 p.m. The Eagles are undefeated this season and riding a six-of-seven win streak, setting up a strong early-season test for Milpitas on their own court.
