• Woman Charged with Murder After Allegedly Running Over Her Friend with SUV (people.com) — Milpitas residents are reeling after a 35-year-old woman was killed in an alleged intentional hit-and-run at the Mill Creek Apartments, where a friend is now charged with murder. Police say the victim was struck by an SUV in the parking lot, with witnesses reporting no sign of braking, and the suspect due back in court on September 10.
   

• Football Recap: Wilcox Runs Past Milpitas (maxpreps.com) — Milpitas High's football team fell 41-20 to Wilcox on Friday despite a big night from quarterback Jonah Mati, who threw for 324 yards and two touchdowns. Now 1-1, the Trojans will try to rebound at home this Friday when they host Leigh at 7 p.m., giving local fans another chance to pack the stands.
