CCS Diving Champ: Alexa Cacao

Milpitas Patch: What was it like for you as a freshman at CCS championships?

Alexa Cacao: It was really tough because I was going up against seniors. Most were from my club. They were my friends.

Patch: What gave you an edge over the other divers?

Cacao: At bigger competitions I usually psych myself out. I woke up feeling confident that morning ...  It was real nice winning.

Patch: What bigger competitions do you compete in?

Cacao: I've been going to a lot of nationals, placing in a lot of those.

Patch: What is your best dive?

Cacao: An inward one-and-a-half [off a one-meter spring board]. You're standing facing the board on the end of the board. And you somersault. And you flip in a little bit so you go in head first.

Patch: Milpitas High doesn't really have a diving team other than yourself. Should they start one?

Cacao: It's just a team of one ... If anybody wants to join, that would be cool. You get to meet new people from all around. 

Patch: What do you plan to do with diving in the next few years?

Cacao: Right now I'm looking to improve my lift and getting a scholarship to college.

Patch: Do you play other sports?

Cacao: I'm a soccer player too. Right now I'm taking a little break. I was on the JV Milpitas High team.

Patch: How many hours a week do you train?

Cacao: Five days a week, three hours a day. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and two hours on Saturday.

Patch: What do you when you have free time?

Cacao: I'm so busy and everything. I just like to veg. 

Patch: What's your favorite TV show?

Cacao: I'm a reality TV junkie. My favorite is Keeping up with the Kardashians.

Patch: What's your favorite song right now?

Cacao: Gives You Hell by the All American Rejects.
