WELCOME!
We are currently looking for volunteers with all levels of experience to be part of our April/May 2014 Training Class to become an Advocate to one of the 200 foster children on our waiting list.
The first step to becoming an Advocate is to attend an orientation session.

These orientation sessions will include an overview of the requirements to become an Advocate, as well as discussing its expectations and role. Our next orientation will be held this Saturday, March 15th at Child Advocates Training Room in Milpitas from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
As a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), you will be working with one child or youth. Spending time with them; getting to know them, finding out what they need; making sure their voice is heard. Making sure that child doesn’t fall through the cracks in the system.

A CASA becomes a caring and on-going presence in a child’s life. Very often, the CASA is the only consistent adult in that child’s or youth’s life while they are in foster care.
Child Advocates of Silicon Valley trains and supports adult (21+) volunteers to mentor and advocate for children (ages 0-18+) in the Santa Clara County foster care system. We ask that Advocates commit to a child for a minimum of 12 months and see his/her child once a week, for approximately 3 hours, this is generally flexible as long as you are spending quality time with the child. Advocates will also receive 30 hours of training (missing no more than 6 hours) before taking a case.
ORIENTATION IS MANDATORY to attend. If you cannot Saturday's orientation, please call (408)573-5611 or email amalia@cadvocates.org to reschedule.
Hope you can join us at one of our upcoming orientations! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
