Driver Killed When Mercedes Hits Toyota In Intersection

The crash happened in Santa Clara County Sunday evening.

SAN JOSE, CA —A woman died Sunday evening in a traffic collision in San Jose, according to police.

At 6:05 p.m., officers responded to a report of a major injury traffic collision at Silver Creek Valley Road and Beaumont Canyon Drive.

According to police, the woman was driving a gray 1998 Toyota north on Silver Creek Valley Road when a silver 2004 Mercedes-Benz traveling south on Silver Creek Valley Road turned east onto Beaumont Canyon Drive.

The two vehicles collided in the intersection, causing the Toyota to roll over and eject the woman.

The man driving the Mercedes remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. It does not appear that drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision, police said.

The woman in the Toyota was taken to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead, police said. Her identity will not be released until the next of kin are notified of her death, police said.

This is the second fatal traffic collision of 2018 in San Jose, according to police.
