Five Displaced In Milpitas House Fire

The blaze was reported Monday on Redwood Avenue.

Five people were displaced Monday in the aftermath of a fire in their single family home that the Milpitas Fire Department prevented from spreading to an adjacent house, according to a spokesman.

At 1:51 p.m. Monday, the Fire Department sent units to a reported fire at a home in the 500 block of Redwood Avenue where the first firefighters on scene saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the house, Milpitas fire spokesman Sean Simonson said.

The flames appeared to be threatening to spread to a neighboring home and fire crews entered both houses to look for occupants, then doused the blaze before it could reach the other home, Simonson said.

Five people in the damaged home were displaced but no one was injured and firefighters turned over the occupants’ two dogs in good health, he said.

The department is investigating what triggered the fire, he said.
