Girl Made Up Kidnapping Story, Police Say

BREAKING: Milpitas Police reported earlier this week that a 13-year-old girl had been kidnapped from her home. Now they say she lied.

MILPITAS, CA — Milpitas Police reported earlier this week that a 13-year-old girl had been kidnapped from her home on Edsel Drive on Feb 7.

The girl told police an elaborate story about being kidnapped, forced into a vehicle, and forced to walk during part of her disappearance.

Now police are saying that she made the whole thing up.

According to Milpitas Police Capt. Daryl Sequeira, "After an extensive investigation, Milpitas Police Detectives have concluded an abduction did not occur. The juvenile was cited and released to her parents for falsely reporting a criminal offense."
