Great Mall to Open Thanksgiving Night for 28 Straight Hours

MILPITAS, CA — 'Tis the Season for gridlock at the Great Mall.

The Great Mall of the Bay Area will open on Thanksgiving Day at 6:00 p.m. and will remain open until Friday at 10:00 p.m. to accommodate Black Friday shoppers scooping up bargains.

Store owners hope to reap big profits from holiday sales but shoppers need to bring along their holiday cheer to avoid frustration.

Lt. John Torrez of the the Milpitas Police Department sent a message to residents on Nextdoor that everyone should expect delays in the vicinity of the mall.

In addition, Lt. Torrez warns, "The Great Mall of the Bay Area and Park Metro Homeowners Association will be closing Comet Drive beginning at 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 24th through 10:00 P.M. on Friday, November 25th to all public traffic...There will be Great Mall of the Bay Area staff and barricades in place to assist with the road closure and to allow residents to enter/exit Park Metro."

There will be electronic signboards on South Main Street and on East Curtis Avenue to advise motorists of restrictions.
