Identity Released Of Elmwood Jail Inmate Who Died

The inmate had been behind bars only 3 days when found unresponsive.

MILPITAS, CA — A 72-year-old inmate who died last month in his cell at the Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas has been identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.

Jae Yang had been in custody since Jan. 8 on suspicion of 10 counts of sexual intercourse with a minor and was found unresponsive in his cell three days later, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.

Yang received emergency first aid and CPR as soon as he was found, but he could not be resuscitated, sheriff's officials said.

Yang was pronounced deceased at 8:36 a.m., according to the sheriff's office.

The cause of Yang's death is yet to be determined, according to the medical examiner's office.
