Local School in Milpitas Receives Awards at Science Competition

Merryhill Elementary & Middle School was named best middle school 2019 at Synopsys Silicon Valley Science and Technology Championship

Merryhill Elementary & Middle School in Milpitas recently received the Best Middle School 2019 award at the Synopsys Silicon Valley Science and Technology Championship. Among the 40 schools that participated, Merryhill Elementary & Middle School was recognized for having the most winning projects at the science competition. Merryhill teacher Kanchan Bhandare was also presented with the Horace Lucich Award for Outstanding Teachers for her work with students. The students presented science projects at the competition, which explored topics including blue lights, edible membranes and naturogenic clouds. Four of the students’ projects placed first in the competition and will now compete at the state level at the end of April. The four projects also qualify to enter the Broadcom MASTERS Competition in October.
