Man Arrested For Milpitas, San Jose Armed Robberies
The Milpitas robbery happened on Feb. 23.

SAN JOSE, CA —A man is in custody that police believe to be responsible for at least five armed robberies in the South Bay in the last few weeks, according to the San Jose Police Department.
Daniel Mendoza, 31, was arrested last Saturday in San Jose by the department's covert response unit after detectives obtained an arrest warrant following an investigation that led to his identification.
San Jose police arrested Mendoza in connection to robberies at the Jack in the Box on South Main Street in Milpitas on Feb. 23, the Valero Gas Station on Snell Avenue in San Jose on Feb. 23, the Arco Gas Station on Pearl Avenue in San Jose on Feb. 28, the 7-Eleven on Branham Lane in San Jose on March 1 and the 7-Eleven on Kooser Road in San Jose on Saturday, according to police.

Detectives believe that Mendoza is responsible for additional robberies throughout the Bay Area.

In the majority of the crimes, Mendoza pointed a handgun at a clerk and took cash and/or lottery scratchers tickets. He usually fled the scene in a 2017 Black Jeep Renegade with black and yellow paper plates, according to police.

Mendoza was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of robbery.
